Looking for games like Hogwarts Legacy? I bet you are. I’m also a great fan of the Harry Potter series franchise. I have played all of the Harry Potter game collections, and among them, I enjoyed the recently launched title “Hogwarts Legacy” on my gaming PC.

The graphics, controls, story lines, everything is magical, in my opinion. Just like you guys, after finishing this title, I stumbled into the phase where I wanted to play more.

So, I went looking for more games similar to Hogwarts Legacy. Surprisingly, I found dozens of games, and I got confused about which game to try.

List of the Best Games like Hogwarts Legacy

Here, below is the complete list of my personally picked and many other gamers' favorite video games like Hogwarts Legacy.

Please note one thing: these games are arranged in no particular ranking order; all of them are randomly placed. Also, not all games are completely similar to Hogwarts Legacy. In terms of open-world map, character progression, game mechanics, fighting with bosses, visuals, and unique story, this is what my game list is all about.

1. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Anniversary Edition)

Skyrim is many gamers' all-time favorite game. On a personal level, this is an amazing game to play in 2025, even though it was launched in 2011. The game takes you to the ancient times of the Dragon Age, where your game character is known as Dragonborn (Dovah-Kiin in Dragon Language). You explore the skyrim, battle with dragons, and master powerful magic, which makes it a perfect alternative to Hogwarts Legacy.

In this game, you control a character (Dragonborn), a savior who fights with blood-buring dragons while exploring the Skyrim world. In your journey, you fight with different types of enemies and creatures called Bandits, Vampires, Falmer, Mages, Witches, Wolves, Skeleton, and many more.

You will have countless quests that you can complete in the game. However, these quests are not the main quests; the primary quest is to become a Dragonborn and master the Dragon languages. There are a total of 20 dragon shouts in the game. Each dragon language has unique powers that give you different abilities like Call Dragon (Od Ah Viing), Cyclone (Van Gar Nos), Fire Breath (Yol Toor Shul) etc.

The game interface is user-friendly; you will find the quests list in the map menu and settings to optimize the game quality according to your system capabilities.

Quest Types: There are numerous quests available like main quests, faction quests, daedric quests, etc., and each quest has countless missions that players need to complete in order to open new missions.

Build and Upgrades: Players can build and upgrade weapons and armor using items (e.g., Ebony Ingot, Dwarven Metal Ingot, Daedra Heart, Firewood, Refined Moonstone, etc.) found in the journey or exploring the map.

While the game is fifteen years old, with its active community, mode community, and never-gets-old gameplay has made it an evergreen franchise in 2025 as well. I have completed this in the base version as well as using modes, both are too fun.

2. ELDEN RING

Elden Ring is an open-world exploration game launched in 2022 and still outperforming in the gaming market. As you explore and discover the world and dungeons, you encounter many threats. In this game, you fight and defend yourself from deadly enemy attacks with your weapons.

You can customize and upgrade your weapons and armor, which will give you an extra edge in combat. You can also use spells and summons to make your enemy weak and defeat them easily. There is a wide range of customization options for customizing your character appearance, combining weapons and armor, and using items and magic that you can equip.

The game mechanics and physics make your gaming experience realistic and engaging. The storyline of this game is another factor why gamers have played it a lot. Its essence is similar to Hogwarts Legacy, where you also explore, fight, cast spells, and summon.

In addition to customization, you can also build your own character according to your playing style. The best thing about this game is you can play with your friends as well in the co-op online.

This game is graphic intensive, and to enjoy its fullest, you must have a good gaming rig. The visuals, physics, spell casting animations, impact, everything feels real in the game. Currently, I am fighting against “Recusant Henricus,” and trust me, beating this boss is no easy task. Remember, each boss in the game is tougher and even stronger than the previous one, and beating them is not easy.

This game includes the two most globally played and acclaimed, single-player adventures from UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End and UNCHARTED™: The Lost Legacy. The story of this game is filled with fun, excitement, and the thrill of immersive fighting and a sense of wonder that is remastered for more enjoyment.

The game has different types of locations, from thick jungles to snow-capped mountains and exotic islands to rain-soaked streets; you’ll be exploring every bit of its stunning environment. 4. Assassin's Creed Shadows

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a new addition to the Assassin's Creed franchise after the success of Assassin's Creed Mirage. I have played Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and ever since, I have become a big fan of this franchise. This is also an amazing open-world game where you get a chance to play this journey with two unique game characters: shinobi and samurai.

Each character has their own respective abilities, way of fighting, skills, and gear. Pick a character and start your journey in the captivating open world of feudal Japan, from spectacular castle towns and bustling ports to peaceful shrines and pastoral landscapes.

When you choose Naoi as your game character, you can use its unique abilities, such as kunai, shuriken, and smoke bombs, to break down your enemy's hideouts with your grappling hook and parkour skills, and assassinate your targets with a hidden blade.

When choosing samurai Yasuke, you can utilize its unique combat-style skills to attack, defend, parry, and defeat your enemies. Utilize his vast arsenal of weapons like Katana, kanabo, bows, naginata, and more – to free Japan from its oppressors.

The more you travel, explore, and scout, the more you will have information about the challenges. In this game, you can build your network of spies to be your eyes and ears across the locations to find out about new areas to explore.

5. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Witcher 3 is one of the most acclaimed open-world, dark fantasy RPG games of all time. This game is now enhanced with several changes in visuals and technical improvements. The Witcher 3 also contains a few storylines and items inspired by Netflix’s original “The Witcher series.”

The story of the game is, in a worn-torn world, the wild hunts you. In the wild, you are “Geralt of Rivia,” a mercenary slayer of the monster who takes charge of a contract—to track down the child of prophecy, a key, and a weapon that can save or destroy all.

In the chart of your own path to adventure, you explore every corner of the world and collect bounty by saving villages from the deadliest monsters. In this game, you are a superhuman, a deadly mutant who possesses super reflexes, the strength to stop anything that comes in front of you, and agile sword-fighting skills. On your journey, you meet a lot of people who become your allies and people who try to kill you. You can equip yourself with an unbreakable armor set that is capable enough to handle any heavy attacks and deal less damage.

I personally like this kind of game that offers amazing experiences, mixing open-world exploration, fighting with monsters, and living the life of a monster hunter. If you are looking for games like Hogwarts Legacy, I will highly recommend you to play The Witcher series from the start as the story is connected from each part.

6. Ghost of Tsushima DIRECTOR'S CUT

Ghost of Tsushima is a third-person open-world action-adventure video game developed by Sucker Punch Productions and Nixxes Software. This is an absolutely gorgeous game that takes you on an adventure through one of history’s most rich landscapes. The beauty of the game lies in one of the best blade-to-blade combat systems that the open-world action genre has ever seen.

The game is based on a fictional story and fictional characters. But it is based on the invasion of Japan by the Mongol Empire in 1274 that started on the island of Tsushima. So, in the game, you are a Jin Sakai who fights for the freedom of Tsushima. This is a director’s cut edition, which means you will get access to all the additional content released to date, as well as brand-new content.

In this game, you explore vast countryside and immersive terrain where you meet rich characters, discover ancient locations throughout the map, and uncover the hidden beauty of Tsushima landscape. You take the head-on fight against the most skilled enemies and utilize the unique fighting style of Jin Sakai with his precious Katana. There is more in the game that you will uncover as you explore the landscapes of Tsushima.

In my opinion, I never experienced such fighting style game mechanics in any other games. I have played this game on the highest settings, and trust me, the visuals and gameplay are so smooth. However, to play this game, you’ll need a good gaming system. If you have a PlayStation 5, then you will enjoy the 4k experience at 60fps. But if you want to unlock the game's true experience, I would suggest that you play it on a high-end PC. I would also recommend that you play on good headphones; the sounds in the game are just as impressive as its gameplay.

7. Dragon Age: Inquisition

I will not say that this game is similar to Hogwarts Legacy, but it has some similar elements like adventure, combat mechanisms, etc. This is more like a Skyrim-type game.

In the Dragon Age Inquisition game, you play as a character known as Inquisitor, and your task is to save the world from a larger demonic invasion. So, the game begins in medias res, with the player exploring the world in a time of political chaos and supernatural threats. The game character is the only one who can stop demons' infiltration into the land of Thedas.

In this game, you will not only fight with demons but there are dangerous monsters like Dragons that cast darkness into the sky with their shadows and flood terror all over the place. One of the interesting elements in the game is that as your character progresses and discovers objectives, the level of the player also progresses and opens up more customization options.

You can pick different classes (Warrior, Mage, or Rogue) and build your character’s skills according to your playstyle. The magic system in the game is similar to Hogwarts Legacy, with a variety of spells you can cast to weaken your enemies and enhance your abilities to defeat your enemies. There are a lot of main quests as well as side quests that keep the game never-ending for players.

You can craft armors and weapons but to do so, it will require crafting materials that you can find by exploring the map. The game is not heavily graphic-oriented; therefore, anyone with a good gaming system can enjoy it in the highest graphic settings. You can buy this at a very cheap price using the EA Play subscription; the prices are mentioned below.

8. FINAL FANTASY XV

One of the best-selling final fantasy games of all time, Final Fantasy XV, was the fifteenth edition of the Square Enix. This game was a big success that sold almost 10 million copies in 2022. This game is also one of my favorites that I played and genuinely liked.

In this RPG game, you play a game character (Prince Noctis) and go on a road trip with your fellow friends on a mission to reclaim his throne/empire. In your journey, you will face many challenges, meet new friends who will help in your difficult times, and fight with enormous creatures. The Noctis has different powers, like magical swords, instant transportation, and many more. In order to win against your enemies, you need to work with your team, who possess different powers and fight strategically to defeat your enemies.

When I played this game for the first time, I was totally surprised by its unique combat system. The story is amazing, and when you play it at higher resolution, like 2K or 4K, the visuals and magic effects take your breath away. Also, the game is not that graphic-intensive for gaming systems built after 2022. Although the game is eight years old now, the quality and engagement it offers are still captivating the gaming market.

Have you watched the Final Fantasy franchise movies yet? Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV was the best-animated film that I watched so far. You should also watch the movie if you are also a fan of animated movies or games.

9. STAR WARS Jedi: Fallen Order™

If you are a fan of the Star Wars franchise and looking for alternative to Hogwarts Legacy, then you should play Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order. It’s a good alternative to Hogwarts Legacy and doesn’t take a high-end gaming system to play this game. Those who have watched the Star Wars series will get familiar with the game storyline easily.

This single-player game takes place in the out in the galaxy adventure and puts you in the role of Jedi Padawan, who is barely able to escape the purge of Order 66. In the game, your goal is to rebuild the Jedi Order, and for that you need to finish all your trainings and collect all the pieces of your past. In order to defeat your enemies, you develop powerful force abilities and master the iconic lightsaber.

The game’s combat system gives you an cinematic experience along with its innovative lightsaber combat system – strike, defend, and dodge. The storyline is completely new; you explore the world and overcome the challenges focused on combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving.

There are more, but to uncover them, you need to play the game by yourself. I can’t spoil all the fun ☺️. If you have a subscription to EA Play, then you can play this game free of cost.

10. Black Myth: Wukong

I’ve never been so utterly blown away, but when I saw the Black Myth Wukong trailer for the first time, my first thought was, is this for real? Black Myth: Wukong is an action RPG game that is rooted in Chinese mythology and based on Journey to the West, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature.

The game puts you in the role of a literal monkey who wakes up in the astonishing jungle and decides to go on a 40-hour-long journey to locate the Six Relics of Wukong. As the Destined One, you fight with numerous enemies, such as Apramana Bat, Nine-Capped Lingzhi Guai, Bandit Chief, Old Ginseng Guai, Black Wind King, Captain Kalpa-Wave, and many more.

In this game, you master different staff techniques and combine different spells, abilities, weapons, and equipment to make your own winning strategy that suits your combat style. In order to find all the relics, you must fight with utterly skilled enemies who are not easily defeated.

The graphics, animations, physics, visuals, controls, UI, everything in the game feels so realistic and amazing. If you are a PC gamer and want to play this game on high settings, you need an RTX 40 series graphic card and a good current-gen CPU and RAM. If you are a console player, PS5 or the latest Xbox series is recommended.

Sadly, I am not able to play this game yet as I don’t have such a strong PC 😔
